Editor's Note: Book News ran a review of this title in a previous issue; the review was dismissive and high-handed--not a good representation of the book, and not consistent with our mission, which is to provide credible, even-handed information about new scholarly books. A letter from the editor drew my attention to the gaffe, and I have extended apologies to him and to the contributors. What follows is a more accurate description.
