Abstract

The recent outbreak of the 2019 coronavirus disease has turned into a global epidemic. Corticosteroids are widely used in the treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome, and the pathological data observed in severe acute respiratory syndrome caused by coronavirus 2 are very similar to those observed in severe acute respiratory syndrome. coronavirus infection. However, long-term use of corticosteroids is associated with potentially serious side effects, especially with avascular necrosis of the femoral head caused by steroids. Hormones are a double-edged sword. This review is intended to provide health care providers in countries and regions endemic to coronavirus 2019 with background information, especially regarding the pros and cons of using corticosteroids in the treatment of patients with COVID-19.
