Das Simpson-Paradoxon wurde benannt nach Edward Hugh Simpson, der dieses Paradox 1951 erstmalig beschrieb, auch wenn sich bereits zuvor schon andere Wissenschaftler mit diesem Phänomen auseinandergesetzt hatten.
