Abstract

Using covid-19 as a context, this chapter discusses how a diplomatic approach to stakeholders, including ordinary citizens, may help corporations behave in ways that are considered legitimate by their social surroundings; find solutions that are socially sustainable because they have public support; gain mandate to play a role in governmental affairs; and limit expensive protests. Many large corporations will need to change mentality to be perceived as responsible partners in the work towards the SDGs.
