Abstract

The History of the Book is a rapidly developing area of study, which brings together several branches of the humanities, such as history, cultural history, sociology, literary theory and bibliology. Thanks to the study of the modes of production and of distribution of books, and that of the evolution of readership and of modes of reading, the History of the Book introduces a brand new approach to the interpretation of texts.
