Abstract

This article from the perspective of Western philosophy over the heart of the relationship between emotion and reason, that Chinese philosophy is an emotional type, the Western philosophy of rational type. Chinese philosophy has always been attention to emotions, because the most basic human emotional existence, but the Chinese philosophy is not "emotionalism", but rather for the emotional and rational unity. Western philosophy is also about emotion, but it advocates the separation of emotion and reason and confrontation, the dominant role of rational attention. This moral feeling is not entirely subjective, individual or experience, it comes from the universe "life and life of the Road", "life and life of reason", is associated with a rational purpose. Emotions with rational unity, which is itself leading to the rational. Can only be moral sentiments, in order to truly establish the person's moral values. Moral reasoning is based on the moral feelings, or emotions is achieved, from the emotional, moral reason does not matter. Meanwhile, the emotional but also spiritual, religious heart foundation. Indeed, the emotion and can be divided up and down, as far as the terms associated with the rational; go on and personal affair, desire is linked, people need emotional Tao governance, to achieve self-transcendence. Emotional limitations of Chinese philosophy, focusing on the purpose of rational and ignore the instrumental rationality. In the process of modernization, we need to instrumental rationality, but must pay attention to people's emotional problems, people become an end rather than the tool, this is the most important.
