Abstract

To overcome the conflict between modern consciousness and the biblical world it seems necessary to create new images and metaphors which include the insights of both. Some protagonists of this dialogue will be discussed before the ideas of Wim B. Drees will be explored. It will be shown how poetry will play an important role as a third way in the dialogue between natural sciences and theology, as well as the arts. Finally, a model to relate modern consciousness and the biblical world will be considered: friendly mutual interaction.
