Abstract

A comprehensive examination of the role of dialectic in human knowledge. The author shows, in a careful and detailed analysis, how a dialectic such as Hamelin's mistakenly attempts to construct the object of knowledge itself; it is actually a structure corresponding to reality and not reality itself which dialectic produces. Following this, Abbe Sesmat outlines a dialectical system of his own, and seeks to show how it can be used to produce a world-view compatible both with modern science and with recent developments in nondialectical philosophy.--M.
