Knjiga Vprašanja življenja se postavlja nasproti plitki in zmedeni filozofski literaturi. Iz človeškega fokusa in sodobno se loteva tem, ki so jih motrili ljudje vseh časov in ki bodo vedno aktualne. Savater je daleč od tega, da bi ponujal odgovore, temveč spodbuja nove dvome, naša predpostavljena vedenja postavlja pod vprašaj in že na prvih straneh opozarja, da se filozofije na da učiti, ampak da se lahko samo filozofira.
