On Foucault and Antiquity

Abstract

Foucault distinguishes between judicial power and the type of discipline-based power. He pointed out that the power to discipline-based construction of a strictly involving all sectors of society "norms." People in this "standard", although seemingly a series of free, but still can not get real autonomy. Therefore, we need to reaffirm the ancient spirit. In the context of ancient times, all levels and citizens living in different ages, on their own strict standards. They are bound on the surface, but after this self-restraint, it is because they are truly free. And can thus develop a healthy social structure
