A autora examina a relação entre a auto-imagem na terceira idade e a construção de uma identidade pessoal. O papel de espelho da mãe, da família e da sociedade em sentido mais amplo adquire, em determinada etapa do amadurecimento, uma importância relevante na construção de um si-mesmo autêntico e singular. Depoimentos pessoais de duas cineastas e relato clínico são utilizados na aplicação das proposições teóricas de D. W. Winnicott sobre a relação entre ser e ser visto.The author examines the relationship between self-image in old age and the construction of personal identity.
