Solving the Myths about Adolescent Suicide and Suicide Prevention

Abstract

Like adults, young people attempted suicide in various ways, including hanging, jumping , deliberately crash or wrists; but suicide occurs every time, around friends, or teachers who commit suicide often do not see signs of suicide in advance , are often appointed after the incident began to reflect on the factors that suicide may be suicidal. In fact, we have some errors on the cognitive information, or thinking, without reflection , the youth suicide suicide clues or messages may turn a blind eye, and the results will affect the time to deal with the problem properly. Based on a literature review on prevention and youth suicide and a variety of myths about, for example, we think that children do not commit suicide, suicide has a mental illness, suicide would heredity; and pointed out that the reason people believe the myth to further clarify the fans thinking behind the fact that young people commit suicide to influence the physiological, psychological factors discussed, Heekin into suicide prevention workers to face their own myth, to work together to create a depression, people can not depressed, suicidal adolescents find Export of life living environment. Indeed, we cognitively harbor some mistaken information or unreflecting ways of thinking , and ignore the clues that imply adolescent suicide; all these may result in influences on the right timing to deal with the problem . This paper sorts out, from documents, various myths about adolescent suicide and suicide prevention, for example, the assumptions that children don't kill themselves, that those who commit suicide have mental illness, and that suicide is genetic. Besides, we point out the reasons why people believe in those myths, clarify the facts behind the myths, explore the physical and psychological factors of adolescent suicide, so as to make those devoted to suicide prevention look at their own myths and collaborate to create an living environment where the depressed can be cheered up and the suicide-attempting adolescents can find out the way to live
