Abstract

This volume completes Professor Stein's critical work on Milton launched in his earlier book, Answerable Style: Essays on Paradise Lost. His underlying assumption, elucidated in this new book, is that Paradise Regained is a dramatic definition of "heroic knowledge," not of heroic rejection. --J. J. C.
