trying to act trying, a ubiquitous feature of human agency ‐ claiming that we try to do everything we intentionally do extent of trying ‘try to’ applying in cases ‐ where we wouldn't think to apply it trying to move the body ‐ Wittgenstein said: “When I raise my arm, I do not usually try to raise it” Wittgenstein, opposed to traditional dualistic conception of bodily action ‐ and to volitionism trying theory, resting in identification of events of trying to with actions trying theory ‐ thought by many to be objectionable trying and intending we do not intend to try to do ‐ what we intentionally do
