Abstract

Realities of Contemporary Nursing sharpens decision-making and problem-solving skills with class-tested critical thinking questions and includes a new chapter that provides an overview of critical thinking concepts; discusses the need for cultural competence and caring in today's diverse society and provides for a greater understanding of the real world of nursing; reveals the impact of power, politics, ethics, and collective bargaining in the workplace; describes situations commonly faced by practicing nurses in real-life vignettes; examines techniques for identifying and managing job-related stress and conflict; provides learning objectives, learning activities, and chapter summaries to assist students in incorporating vital information into their professional lives; and allows students to increase their knowledge of current nursing issues with the use of an annotated bibliography of relevant readings.
