Abstract

This introductory chapter lays some of the groundwork for the discussion of religion and public bioethics. It attempts to raise the questions commonly cited by the critics of public religion and provide a preliminary response that has been built on and elaborated by many of the contributors to this book. An overview of the topics covered in this volume is presented.
