William J. Astore, USAF, is associate professor and director of international history at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs. He earned his Ph. D. degree in the History of Science and Technology programme from the University of Oxford in 1996. His book, Observing God: Thomas Dick, Evangelicalism, and Popular Science in Victorian Britain and America, is available from Ashgate Press [Book Review]
