Abstract

The paper sheds light on the current situation in Europe by considering its historical horizon. The history of Europe is revealed as a series of crises that gave rise to the idea of European unity. Europe faces a variety of opinions on what should concretely and politically determine a form of unification that will allow an open view of the common future of Europeans. Let us suppose that we acknowledge the necessity to overcome various forms of nationalism. Does that mean that we also reject the idea of Europe as a nation or do we also have to take into account the new circumstances in which European unity is being formed? We should strive for a Europe that unites people and nations
