Abstract

During the periodfrom 1850 to 1950, newspaper reporters seemed willing to do anything to obtain a sto y. Many admit committing crimes and, in the process, invading other people's privacy and destroying their reputations with a sometimes ruthless disregard of the consequences. Why? Early reporters gave eight reasonsfor their unethical behavior.
