Abstract

Today’s secularization debate contains in it several assumptions that restrict inquiry and leave out other historic solutions to questions of ordering political society. Does liberalism inevitably lead to the transformation of all traditional values that use place, blood, and faith to hold people together? Or are there new ways to reclaim pre-liberal values in our current age, without sacrificing the benefits to human flourishing that are the legacy of liberalism?
