Abstract
If theology and philosophy are properly understood as arising from the middle of things, then the present issue of the American Journal of Theology and Philosophy is particularly well suited to its name. To be sure, the "middle of things" is where every issue comes from. Still, there is something especially apt about that notion for the issue you are reading now, which features the second installment of a two-part series on pragmatism as a transcendental philosophy and an insightful commentary on radically democratic social practices.
