Abstract

This collection of papers exhibits the various directions in which the problem of conformity and deviation is being approached by social psychology. Of interest to philosophers is the evidence offered of the still unresolved conflict between behavioristic and Gestalt explanations of human behavior-a conflict analogous to the current philosophical struggle between linguistic analysis and metaphysics. --E.
