Abstract

This book might be better entitled "Objectivity in Science" since topics traditionally associated with the given title are not focused on until the last chapter. The majority of the work is devoted to broader themes in science. The stated purpose of the work is "to combat the position of anti-objectivism" and to provide "a convenient map for finding one’s way about in the tangle of issues surrounding the question of objectivity in social science." Chapter One begins with a discussion of what objectivism is not and what it is not committed to.
