This fact, as well as the current political and geopolitical factors of the development of Ukrainian statehood, determine the relevance of the selected subjects. This scientific article analyzes the issues connected with the definition of norms and principles of state regulation of media activities in modern conditions. The main prerequisite of the study was the identification of promising methods for improving the mechanisms for regulating the work of the media in Ukraine. The emphasis was on studying both the theoretical aspects of this problem, and the analysis of domestic legal, institutional and organizational practices. The focus of scientific research on this subject, within the framework of this article, turned out to be key aspects and levers of state influence on the media information environment. The purpose of the article is to integrate the main principles of the state regulation of mass media activities in Ukraine at the present stage. In accordance with the goal set, the following tasks should be performed: • analysis of the regulatory framework for state regulation of the media; • defining principles of institutional and organizational influence of the state on the mass media; • systematization of promising ways to improve the state regulation of the media. Based on the study, the main problem areas and directions for improving the system of state regulation of media activities in Ukraine were identified. As a result of the study, exhaustive conclusions are drawn.
