Abstract

This paper aims to explore the philosophical basis of political ethics, and from the Scholastic philosophy and Catholic point of view, outlined the major and its contents. The first section discusses the basis of political ethics, a review of relevant historical position, such as the ethical integrity of doctrine, political realism, a comprehensive ethics and political theory of the three, a further review of the ethical and political independent, the associated tension. Section II discusses the political ethics and Scholastic philosophy, the author used here, "Scholastic Philosophy," a speech in a broad sense, refers to the Catholic philosophy of less common ideas, more pertinent to say, the Catholic thinking. This section will be based on writings of Catholic scholars and the pope encyclical, which points to a brief description of theoretical positions. Section III will continue to extend the Catholic Church's political ethics, which is used to outline a comprehensive vision, and from a political perspective to the anti-ethics as the basic content. Finally, the conclusion in the fourth quarter, we will focus on the Catholic Church to play a political ideals and ethics of critical, democratic politics without urge the Government to form a system of ethics is not easy to continue. In addition, the ethical need to democracy will grow. As heralded by the Catholic Church's political ethics, people should focus on the political field, its ideals and continue to play critical and improve and achieve the political will, practical reason and ethics. The purpose of this paper is to explore the philosophical foundation of political ethics and its essential contents according to the teachings of Catholic Church. The first section will discuss some fundamental questions of relation between Ethics and Politics. Starting with the evaluation of three approaches that have appeared in the history: moral integralism, political realism and syncretism, we will make clear the tension that exists between politics and ethics both independent and yet related one to another. In the second section, we will propose scholastic philosophy, understood in the broad sense as Catholic social thought, as capable of offering a true foundation for political ethics. Here we will discuss and analyze the basic ideas of works done by some Catholic scholars and some Papal encyclical letters. The third section, extending the acquired results in the previous section , will elaborate an ideal image of political ethics and offer the essentials of Catholic political ethics, all in doing some critical reflection on the actual political theories and practices. In the last section, we'll make our conclusion in emphasizing the idealizing and critical function of Catholic political ethics which is considered as essential to the progress and maturity of Democratic polity.
