Abstract

Since there is no complete study which presents the entire life of Cyril Meir Scott, this dissertation contains the composer/author's biography compiled and collected from various sources. An attempt is made to examine the experiences and forces in his life for the purpose of better understanding his creative processes. This is particularly useful when addressing and defining his original version of Theosophical healing through music. ;A general study of the philosophical tenets of Theosophy is presented in this document to enhance the reader's understanding of the use of color and light parallels in music. In addition, a basic history of the development of light and color therapy in medicine is included. This field of medicine had a direct impact upon the rise of color usage as a method of treating illnesses with music. Scott consciously linked his methods of composition to both of these areas
