Abstract

A revolution in culture, or a cultural revolution, is the transformation of culture, which directly leads to a cardinal change in the direction of cultural development. The paper analyzes a social mechanism of cultural revolutions and describes in detail revolutions in culture, which occurred in the history of Russia and were determined by the gaps that exist in this history. The common characteristics of such revolutions are outlined as the necessity and possibility to create their typology are discussed.
