Depiction of a Combined Split P-Shaped Compact Metamaterial for Dual-Band Microwave Application

Abstract

The paper imparts the architecture of a compact and combined split P-shaped metamaterial unit cell that is felicitous for dual band of microwave frequency, and it shows negative permeability and permittivity at those frequencies. Two split P-shaped resonators are connected to each other by a metal ink to increase the electrical length, and two modified split-ring resonators reside inside each of it. A correlation was made on the performance after the analysis of unit cell and 1 × 1 array structure. A great transmission coefficient of almost 13 GHz with a 500 MHz band gap at the middle is demonstrated for all of these configurations. The resonator covers L, C, X and Ku band separately with double-negative phenomena at X and Ku band. To justify the performance of the proposed resonator, an analogy is conferred. Due to its compact and auspicious design, double-negative characteristics and the proposed metamaterial have potential to be used for dual-band application.
