Abstract

Nowadays, a collaboration between philosophy and apologetics is needed in order to create a bridge to connect the Church with the world. Such a collaboration is beneficial to both sciences. On the one hand, philosophy is the soul of apologetics: It offers the apologist the preambula fidei, the rational urge to fulfill his mission, the right unity and selection of the results provided by different sciences, an d the understanding of man’s way of thinking and living. On the other hand, apologetics is the fulfillment of philosophy: It purifies philosophy from its errors and the temptation of becoming self-suffic ient, it widens its intellectual horizons with the presentation of super-rational truths, and it helps philosophy to rediscover its original vocation by establishing a new wisdom, a renewed understanding of man’s truth-capacity, and the metaphysical foundation of phenomena. For these reasons, the collaboration between philosophy and apologetics will help both sciences flourish and will make them serve mankind in an effective way by building a new bridge between faith and reason
