The Paradox of Kant’s Transcendental Subject in German Philosophy in the Late Eighteenth Century.M. V. Rouba - 2020 - Kantian Journal 39 (2):7-25.
The study of the “first wave” of reactions to the Critique of Pure Reason in Germany from the second half of the 1780s until the beginning of the nineteenth century reveals the paradoxical status of the Kantian transcendental subject. While the existence of the transcendental subject, whatever the term means, is not open to question since it arises from the very essence of critical philosophy, the fundamental status of the subject is sometimes questioned in this period. Although the meaning of (...)

Plastics and the coronavirus pandemic: a behavioral science perspective.Fadi Makki, Anna Lamb & Rouba Moukaddem - 2020 - Mind and Society 20 (2):209-213.
With the coronavirus outbreak, new and strengthened norms of plastic dependency emerged in the Middle East and North Africa region through the desperate demand for products like face masks and other personal protective equipment, highlighting the tradeoffs between health and the environment. While the rise in demand has been considered as temporary, behavioral barriers and misperceptions might make these norms particularly sticky and hinder society’s ability to transition to a circular economy. Fortunately, behavioral science offers valuable insights about why the (...)

The Implications of a Dialogical Approach to Language Acquisition: the Example of a Research Study on the Acquisition of Referring Expressions.Anne Salazar Orvig, Geneviève De Weck & Rouba Hassan - 2021 - Bakhtiniana 16 (1):155-180.

The acquisition of referring expressions: a dialogical approach.Anne Salazar Orvig, Geneviève de Weck, Rouba Hassan & Annie Rialland (eds.) - 2021 - Philadelphia: John Benjamins.
This book describes the repertoire and uses of referring expressions by French-speaking children and their interlocutors in naturally occurring dialogues at home and at school, in a wide-range of communicative situations and activities. Through the lens of an interactionist and dialogical perspective, it highlights the interaction between the formal aspects of the acquisition of grammatical morphemes, the discourse-pragmatic dimension, and socio-discursive, interactional and dialogical factors. Drawing on this multidimensional theoretical and methodological framework, the first part of the book deals with (...)

    Marharita Rouba: Translator’s Comments of T. Rosefeldt: ‘Being Realistic about Kant’s Idealism’.Rita Rovbo - 2021 - Studies in Transcendental Philosophy 2 (1).
The preface to the translation of Tobias Rosefeldt’s article into Russian provides a discussion context, in which the author settles an issue of interpreting the a posteriori aspects of the content of experience in Kant’s transcendental idealism. Key points of the article are briefly formulated and the translator’s choices of certain terms are justified.

    Being Realistic about Kant’s Idealism (Translated by M. Rouba).Tobias Rosefeldt - 2021 - Studies in Transcendental Philosophy 2 (1).
This paper deals with the question of whether Kant's transcendental idealism allows for an explanation of the a posteriori aspects of mental content by the properties of empirical objects. I first show that a phenomenalist interpretation has severe problems with assuming that we perceive an object as being red or as being cubical partly because the perceived object is red and cubical, and then present an interpretation that allows us to save the realistic intuition behind these claims. According to this (...)
