    Measures of Agency.Thor Grünbaum & Mark Schram Christensen - 2020 - Neuroscience of Consciousness 2020 (1):niaa019.
The sense of agency is typically defined as the experience of controlling one’s own actions, and through them, changes in the external environment. It is often assumed that this experience is a single, unified construct that can be experimentally manipulated and measured in a variety of ways. In this article, we challenge this assumption. We argue that we should acknowledge four possible agency-related psychological constructs. Having a clear grasp of the possible constructs is important since experimental procedures are only able (...)

Teaching Responsible Research and Innovation: A Phronetic Perspective.Milena Wuketich, Núria Saladié, Gemma Rodríguez, Gema Revuelta, Ana Marušić, Alexander Lang, Erich Griessler, Marta Cayetano I. Giralt, Mar Carrió, Ivan Buljan, Roger Strand, Malene Vinther Christensen & Niels Mejlgaard - 2019 - Science and Engineering Ethics 25 (2):597-615.
Across the European research area and beyond, efforts are being mobilized to align research and innovation processes and products with societal values and needs, and to create mechanisms for inclusive priority setting and knowledge production. A central concern is how to foster a culture of “Responsible Research and Innovation” (RRI) among scientists and engineers. This paper focuses on RRI teaching at higher education institutions. On the basis of interviews and reviews of academic and policy documents, it highlights the generic aspects (...)

Sense of agency for movements.Mark Schram Christensen & Thor Grünbaum - 2018 - Consciousness and Cognition 65:27-47.
In this paper, we argue that the comparator model is not a satisfactory model of sense of agency (SoA). We present a theoretical argument and experimental studies. We show (1) most studies of SoA neglect a distinction between SoA associated with movements (narrow SoA) and SoA associated with environmental events (broad SoA); (2) the comparator model emerges from experimental studies of sensory consequences narrowly associated with movements; (3) narrow SoA can be explained by a comparator model, but a motor signal (...)

Sensation of Movement.Thor Grünbaum & Mark Schram Christensen - 2017 - Abingdon, UK: Routledge.
Sensation of Movement explores the role of sensation in motor control, bodily self-recognition and sense of agency. The sensation of movement is dependent on a range of information received by the brain, from signalling in the peripheral sensory organs to the establishment of higher order goals. Through the integration of neuroscientific knowledge with psychological and philosophical perspectives, this book questions whether one type of information is more relevant for the ability to sense and control movement. Addressing conscious sensations of movement, (...)

Accounting for Animal Welfare: Addressing Epistemic Vices During Live Sheep Export Voyages.Mark Christensen & Geoffrey Lamberton - 2021 - Journal of Business Ethics 180 (1):35-56.
In this research, we develop a reporting framework based on an ethical account of the Australian live sheep export industry’s current operations. We demonstrate that LSE operates within a legitimacy vacuum constituted by a repeated cycle of events that we characterize as scandal-response-obduracy with a constant factor being animal cruelty on an industrial scale. The lack of legitimacy is facilitated by an obdurate regulatory context, an absence of consumer awareness of industry practices, jurisdictional impediments to enforcement of animal cruelty laws (...)

Mod en teori om kausale hukommelsesprocesser: præliminære bemærkninger.Mathias Christensen - 2018 - Studier i Pædagogisk Filosofi 6 (2):73-94.
This paper argues for a theory of memory that I have coined “the theory of causal memory processes”. The central claim of the paper is that it is more empirically sound to construct theories of memory in accordance with the theory of causal processes rather than in accordance with causality as regulation. In order to put this claim forward I will, first, describe what kind of function causality serves in philosophical theories of memory. Secondly, I will show that regularity theories (...)

Ordinary Language Philosophy in Aarhus.Martin Ejsing Christensen & Thomas Bohl - 2020 - Danish Yearbook of Philosophy 53 (1):61-83.
This paper examines the way in which Ordinary Language Philosophy came to exert an important influence on the work done at Aarhus University’s department of philosophy in the latter half of the 20th century. The first section depicts the rise of Ordinary Language Philosophy as an international movement centered around Oxford in the wake of World War ii. The second section goes on to describe how it was brought to Aarhus by Professor Justus Hartnack, who had been deeply influenced by (...)

The Idea of Socialism by Axel Honneth.Martin Ejsing Christensen - 2018 - Transactions of the Charles S. Peirce Society 54 (1):105-109.
The interaction between American pragmatism and German critical theory has a long history. While Horkheimer and Adorno, the founding fathers of critical theory, were quite critical of the native American philosophy they encountered when they fled from Nazi Germany, American pragmatism has had a considerable influence on both Jürgen Habermas and Axel Honneth—the two most prominent thinkers within critical theory’s 2nd and 3rd generations. As is well known, however, their prime inspiration has been George Herbert Mead’s symbolic interactionist sociology as (...)

Educating Resilient Social Work Professionals.Camilla Sabroe Jydebjerg, Karin Brantbjerg Madsen & Michael Christensen - 2021 - Outlines. Critical Practice Studies 22 (1):65-102.
This article deals with the concept of vulnerability in social work and how social work students understand the concept of professionalism. The article is based on an empirical study of social worker students and on analysis of the literature used in the education. Theoretically, the article rests upon vulnerability theory as elaborated by Martha Fineman. The analysis suggests that the social worker students share an understanding of the client as vulnerable, and of the social worker as not vulnerable. This entails (...)
