Alors que le football est le sport le plus populaire et le plus largement médiatisé en France, la pratique du football par les femmes demeure aujourd’hui marginale et souvent méconnue. On peut alors s'étonner qu’aux origines du football féminin, en 1917, la mixité sur le terrain soit réalisée bien avant que le principe en soit accepté. Le football féminin va devoir s’organiser au sein d’une fédération autonome qui établit ses propres règlements et ses propres compétitions fortement inspirés cependant du modèle (...) masculin. Considéré comme violent, malsain, dangereux, notamment par les médecins, le football féminin ne connaît en fait qu’un développement très limité et il disparaît à la veille de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Réapparu à la fin des années soixante, il intègre la Fédération de football dès 1970. Quoique initialement interdite par les médecins, la mixité est progressivement encouragée pour les catégories de joueuses les plus jeunes. Néanmoins, les filles jouant avec des garçons restent encore aujourd’hui des exceptions et la non-mixité demeure, envers et contre tous, le principe le plus largement répandu. (shrink)

Technology used in online marketing has advanced to a state where collection, enhancement and aggregation of information are instantaneous. This proliferation of customer information focused technology brings with it a host of issues surrounding customer privacy. This article makes two key contributions to the debate concerning digital privacy. First, we use theories of justice to help understand the way consumers conceive of, and react to, privacy concerns. Specifically, it is argued that an important component of consumers' privacy concerns relates to (...) fairness judgments, which in turn comprise of the two primary components of distributive and procedural justice. Second, we make a number of prescriptions, aimed at both firms and regulators, based on the notion that consumers respond to perceived privacy violations in much the same way they would respond to an unfair exchange. Given the fundamental role that concepts play in theories of cognition, philosophers and cognitive scientists have a common interest in concepts. Nonetheless, there is a great deal of controversy regarding what kinds of things concepts are, how they are structured, and how they are acquired. This chapter offers a detailed high-level overview and critical evaluation of the main theories of concepts and their motivations. The influential political philosopher Leo Strauss has been credited by conservatives with the recovery of the great tradition of political philosophy stretching back to Plato. Among Strauss's most enduring legacies is a strongly negative assessment of Nietzsche as the modern philosopher most at odds with that tradition and most responsible for the sins of twentieth-century culture--relativism, godlessness, nihilism, and the breakdown of family values.
