¿Está suficientemente presente el deseo en la Divina Comedia para tomarlo en consideración? ¿Es realmente la purificación del deseo el núcleo del Purgatorio dantesco? Con estas dos preguntas queremos iluminar el tema del deseo en el poema dantesco. La disertación se enmarcará en el sentido de desiderium aportado por santo Tomás en su Tratado de las pasiones (S. Th., I-II, q.22-48) y en las cuestiones relativas a las potencias del alma (S. Th., I, q.78-80). Con el marco tomista como referencia, (...) estudiaremos la purificación del deseo, especialmente del racional, y la entenderemos como el proceso de ordenación y desvelamiento del deseo último del hombre: contemplar a Dios cara a cara. Para ello, destacaremos la ayuda de la virtud y de la educación de la mirada como dos factores fundamentales para culminar el ascenso por la montaña de la purificación y permitir al alma alcanzar la cumbre de sus deseos en el Paraíso. Como conclusión, señalaremos que la purificación del deseo ilumina nuestra naturaleza y permite lograr la unión real entre Dios y su criatura. (shrink)

Teachings of the various leaders of the Radhasoami Satsang.

Violence, as a concept, has shaped most of human history and discourse. Over the centuries, the concept has gone through dynamic evolutions and should be understood in relation to diverse agents such as nation, nostalgia, and culture. Modern society’s tendency to impede and constrain overt forms of violence has paved the way for covert forms to exist in socio-cultural spheres. Cultural violence is one such realization where aggression gets exercised covertly through heterogenous mediums such as language, regulations, mass media, and (...) most importantly cultural practices. Its topological structures can be traced in national imagination and a sense of cultural nostalgia originating out of it, that ultimately formulates cultural “otherness.” In Gandhian philosophy, the absence of physical aggression is insignificant, if not complemented with the eradication of violence from the cultural and intellectual strata. Gandhi’s critique of exclusive nationalism and narrowness is reflective of a distinct kind of cultural topology that generates structural violence and with the due course of history it gets legitimacy to exert power over the cultural binary it constructed. The fundamental questions of the paper are associated with assessing the role of national imagination and cultural imperatives in germinating the structures of violence in culture, exclusive nationalism, and Gandhian reconsideration of peace in the context of covert violence in the material and intellectual realms. Rasa, Dhvani and Rasa-Dhvani are the major critical terms in Sanskrit poetics that developed during the post-Vedic classical period. Rasa is used by a sage named Bharata to denote the aesthetic experience of a theatrical audience. But Anandavardhana and Abhinavagupta intermedialize this experience by extending it to a reader of poetry. They argue that rasa is also generated by a linguistic potency called dhvani. Some critics like Bhoja also proposed generation of rasa by pictorial art, and further, some modern critics (...) propose to trace dhvani property in non-verbal arts such as dance and music pleading thereby that these non-verbal arts also generate rasa. The present essay examines these arguments and concludes that generation of rasa is confined to only the audio-visual and verbal arts such as the theatre and poetry, and, dhvani as a specific linguistic potency, is strictly confined to the verbal arts. This study examines the extent to which corporate responsibility influences the demand for shares by institutions. The study follows Bushee (Account Rev 73(3):305–333, 1998 ) in categorising institutions as dedicated or transient. The demand for shares is organised according to three factors: a long-term factor, corporate responsibility; a short-term factor, market liquidity; and a time-independent factor, portfolio theory. The rank and importance of the factors for the different types of institutional investor are analysed. For one of two types of dedicated (...) institution, corporate responsibility is as important as portfolio theory in influencing the demand for shares. For all dedicated institutions, corporate responsibility influences the demand for shares more than market liquidity. For two of the three types of transient institution, market liquidity is the most important factor in share selection. For all transient institutions, the least important factor is corporate responsibility. Findings suggest that corporate responsibility positively and significantly influences the demand for shares by dedicated institutions. The discussion considers the extent to which these trends are constitutive of significant shifts in ethicality within the context of institutional investment. Looking at this from within a highly institutionalised Anglo market model, dedicated institutions’ commitment to broader and longer-term concerns could be interpreted as a small but significant step towards a more axiologically informed ethical business practice. Such a form of engagement calls for sensitive attention to a fuller range of features deemed to be relevant to investment decisions, as opposed to more narrow reliance on legislation, codes of practice and fiduciary principles. This paper provides practitioner and academic insights into the importance of examining non-technical skills in a multiteam system emergency response. The case of public health professionals is highlighted, illustrated with unique qualitative field data which focused upon the use of non-technical skills at a meso level of analysis. Results reflected the importance of context upon the multiteam system and highlighted seven non-technical skills used by public health professionals to support an effective response. Recommendations for future research and implications for practice (...) are noted for this hard to access professional group, located within emerging advances in the scientific inquiry of complex and increasingly evident, multi-team systems. Der Beitrag analysiert den Aphorismus 377 des 5. Buch der Fröblichen Wissenschaft, die eine ausführliche Charakterisierung der Idee eines gutes Europäers enthält. Durch die Betrachtung der komplexen Entstehung des Aphorismus werden die vielschichtigen Bedeutungen dieser Auffassung beleuchtet. Die Evokationskraft, die den gesamten Aphorismus prägt, wird als Symptom eines offenen Systems unde einer dynamischen Ganzheit, in denen die Auffassung des guten Europäers ihre Konturen annimmt, besonders betont. Innerhalb dieser Offenheit stellt sich der gute Europäers ihre Kunturen annimmt, besonders betont. Innerhalb dieser (...) Offenheit stellt sich der gute Europäer als Produkt einer Übergangszeit dar, die mit Situationen jenseits der traditionellen Wertbestimmung experimentieren will. So schwantk der gut Europäer zwischen Modernität und Unzeitgemäßheit; eine solche paradoxe Schwankung erlaubt, auch die möglichen "politischen" Konnotationen der Idee eines guten Europäers besser zu verstehen.This study analyses aphorism 377 of the fifth book of the Gay Science, which contains an exhaustive characterization of the idea of the good European. Consideration of the complex genesis of the aphorism brings to light the many meanings of this concept. The evocative force that characterizes the entire aphorism is particularly highlighted as a indication of the openness of the system and its dynamic totality. Within this openness, the good European is a product of an era of transition that creates situations beyond traditional determinations of value. In this way, the good European oscillates between modernity and timelessnes. This paradoxical oscillation permits a better understanding also of possible "political" connotations of the idea of the good European. (shrink)

Specifically, the aim of this study is to see the role and correlation between transformational and transactional leadership with effective followership. Using multiple regression, research found that transformational leadership had positive and significant correlation with effective followership but transactional leadership didn’t have significant effect. Regression model proves that transformational and transactional can be used to predict effective followership.  .

Nurses’ job satisfaction is the most important thing in health care business science the attitudes and the behaviors of the nurses could affects the health care services quality. The objectives of this study is to find out whether there are direct or indirect effects from the perception of transactional leadership, perception of transformational leadership, perception of distributive justice, perception of procedural justice, to job satisfaction. The samples of this study consist of 132 nurses from X hospital. The measurement instruments which (...) had been used consist of perception of Leadership style measurement instrument, perception of distributive justice measurement instrument, perception of procedural justice measurement instrument, and job satisfaction measurement instrument which later the result was calculated by using the program LISREL. The result showed that perception of leadership style and perception of justice had direct significant effects toward job satisfaction.  . (shrink)
