Documentation of individualized patient care: a qualitative metasynthesis.Oili Kärkkäinen, Terese Bondas & Katie Eriksson - 2005 - Nursing Ethics 12 (2):123-132.
The aim of this study was to increase understanding of how individual patient care and the ethical principles prescribed for nursing care are implemented in nursing documentation. The method used was a metasynthesis of the results of 14 qualitative research reports. The results indicate that individualized patient care is not visible in nurses’ documentation of care. It seems that nurses describe their tasks more frequently than patients’ experiences of their care. The results also show that the structure of nursing documentation (...)

  5. Projectification and Conflicting Temporalities in Academic Knowledge Production.Oili-Helena Ylijoki - 2016 - Teorie Vědy / Theory of Science 38 (1):7-26.
The project format has become a standard and self-evident way to organize research work in today's accelerated university context, leading to the projectification of science. This paper argues that the project format is not a mere technical organizational tool, but that it challenges and reshapes research practices and ideals. The project format is embedded in a specific temporality which is called project time. The key characteristics of project time are scrutinized by distinguishing it from process time, which refers to the (...)

    University Under Structural Reform: A Micro-Level Perspective.Oili-Helena Ylijoki - 2014 - Minerva 52 (1):55-75.
National governments in several countries have promoted and carried out different forms of mergers, consolidations and alliances within their higher education systems in order to increase efficiency, effectiveness and governmental control to ensure that the universities more directly serve the national and regional economic and social objectives. This article sets out to explore structural reforms between and within universities from a micro-level perspective by investigating how academics make sense of and respond to the structural reforms, and how these reforms shape (...)

    A Theory of Planetary Social Pedagogy.Arto O. Salonen, Erkka Laininen, Juha Hämäläinen & Stephen Sterling - 2023 - Educational Theory 73 (4):615-637.
The escalating planetary crises of human-induced climate change, the depletion of natural resources, and declining biodiversity call for urgent actions to be taken at all levels of society and by the global community. The current political strategy for a sustainable future that emphasizes economic and technological progress is insufficient to bring about the change required; an educational approach based on identities, values, ethics, and new worldviews is also needed. In this article Arto O. Salonen and his coauthors consider the (...)

In this study, the relationship between sympathetic nervous system synchrony, movement synchrony, and the amount of speech were studied in couple therapy.MethodsData comprised 12 couple therapy cases. Synchrony in electrodermal activity, head and body movement, and the amount of speech and simultaneous speech during the sessions were analyzed in 12 sessions at the start of couple (...)

Validity and reliability of the Musicians’ Health Literacy Questionnaire, MHL-Q19.Christine Guptill, Teri Slade, Vera Baadjou, Mary Roduta Roberts, Rae de Lisle, Jane Ginsborg, Bridget Rennie-Salonen, Bronwen Jane Ackermann, Peter Visentin & Suzanne Wijsman - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13:886815.
High prevalence of musicians’ physical and mental performance-related health issues (PRHI) has been demonstrated over the last 30 years. To address this, health promotion strategies have been implemented at some post-secondary music institutions around the world, yet the high prevalence of PRHI has persisted. In 2018, an international group of researchers formed the Musicians’ Health Literacy Consortium to determine how best to decrease PRHI, and to examine the relationship between PRHI and health literacy. An outcome of the Consortium was the (...)

Theatre for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties: A Winnicottian perspective.Sarah Richmond - 2022 - Metaphilosophy 53 (5):709-723.
The London‐based Oily Cart theatre company aims to produce shows that are suitable forallyoung people. This paper closely examines one of their productions,Splish Splash, which was developed for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The paper's central purpose is to understand the value of this type of theatrical experience for these children. It argues that Winnicott's conception of play, and his account of the conditions that enable the capacity for play to unfold, provide a persuasive theoretical framework that makes (...)

The Aleksanteri Institute of the University of Helsinki organized in 25–26 of September 2009 a special symposium Northern Lights — Facets of Enlightenment Culture with the aim to discuss form of Enlightenment thought in Sweden/Finland and Russia. The symposium, which was opened by Prof. Emeritus Matti Klinge, a renowned historian of 18th- and 19th-century Finland, had four participants from Russia, five from Finland and one from Germany; thus, it was yet a quite small event, but we hope that with it (...)
