    Bureaukratisch patronage en etno-linguisme.Mark Elchardus - 1978 - Res Publica 20 (1):141-165.
The present investigation looks at the recent success of ethnolinguistic politics as, largerly, the outcome of friction betweèn the existing -pattern of political integration and a set of relatively new · socio-economic conditions. The development of the latter is part of what may be implied in the phrase «post-industrial society». The Belgian pattern of political integration is characterized by very low levels of differentiation between the parties, the administration and the voluntary organizations. It implies a mode of political participation in (...)

Culture conflict and its consequences for the legitimation crisis.Mark Elchardus & Anton Derks - 1996 - Res Publica 38 (2):237-254.
Our analysis indicates that it is correct to interpret non-participation and a vote for the Extreme Right as at least partly due to a legitimation crisis which seems to be the expression of a new alignment of values. Reset: over identiteit, gemeenschap en democratie.Mark Elchardus - 2021 - [Aalter]: Ertsberg.
Sinds (...)

    The Malaise of Limitlessness.Mark Elchardus & Jessy Siongers - 2001 - Ethical Perspectives 8 (3):179-201.
In this article, we examine whether problems of meaning are real. We begin by outlining the theory of meaningfulness that constitutes our point of departure. We then situate it within the context of the contemporary sociological debate about detraditionalization, thus clarifying our position in that debate. On the basis of those theoretical principles, we proceed to develop and test a number of hypotheses regarding the problems of meaning that might be produced by detraditionalization. Subsequently, we investigate the effectiveness of some (...)
