As características do teletrabalho podem contribuir tanto para o aumento quanto para a diminuição do estresse do trabalhador. Este estudo buscou identificar os preditores de estresse, em termos de vantagens e desvantagens do teletrabalho, recursos e demandas psicossociais relacionados ao trabalho e interação trabalho-família, entre servidores da Justiça Federal do Rio Grande do Sul que desenvolvem teletrabalho. Os 130 participantes responderam o questionário de dados demográficos e laborais, escala de estresse percebido, vantagens e desvantagens do teletrabalho, recursos-demandas do trabalho e (...) interação trabalho-família. Análise de regressão linear múltipla identificou um modelo preditivo de estresse composto pelas variáveis de interações trabalho-família e família-trabalho negativas, autoeficácia e sobrecarga. Os resultados apontam fatores de risco e proteção para o estresse entre teletrabalhadores. Ressalta-se a necessidade de legislação laboral nacional que regulamente o teletrabalho, de forma a configurá-lo de maneira mais concreta, permitindo ações visando à saúde dos trabalhadores. Este artigo pretende dialogar com as experiências de aprendizagens em diferentes cotidianos escolares da rede municipal de ensino do Rio de Janeiro. Com a perspectiva de potencializar a corporeidade, me aproximo de Deleuze e Guattari ao não definirem o corpo como somatório de partes e sim, como composições de afectos, problematizando os conceitos dualistas que separam o eu e o mundo, o eu e os outros, o eu e o corpo. Manifesto, portanto, o desejo por uma filosofia que assuma o (...) conhecimento como inscrição corporal. Enfim, incluo-me na caminhada ética e estética em favor da corporeidade contextualizada e múltipla. This article intends to dialogue with different learning experiences in school everyday from public schools in the city of Rio de Janeiro. With the prospect of enhancing the corporeity, I approach Deleuze and Guattari when do not define the body as the sum of parts but, as compositions of affection,questioning the dualistic concepts that separate self and world, self and others, self and body. Manifest, therefore, the desire for a philosophy that assumes knowledge as inscription body. Based on seventeenth- and eighteenth-century accounts written by and for slavers, this article investigates the provisioning of the French Middle Passage. As the transatlantic trade in African captives developed, foodstuffs for the feeding of both Europeans and Africans figured prominently in a specifically Atlantic system of commodity exchanges. The trade in foodstuffs depended most heavily on African subsistence systems encountered along the coasts of West Africa, but a surprising quantity of French and other European foodstuffs were embarked specifically for the (...) Middle Passage, revealing, I argue, the precariousness of conditions of trade and of European slaving factories. As a key element of Atlantic political economy, the study of food and its transatlantic provisioning networks sheds light not only on the governance and regulation of the networks themselves, but also on the ability of early modern states to establish and maintain metropolitan control, on the growth of local, colonial forms of autonomy and authority, and on the complex systems of ‘national’ and colonial interdependence that lay behind the expansion of every Atlantic colony. I conclude that this study of provisioning demonstrates that however fractured and differentiated, imperial power was an irrefutable aspect of colonial continuity. (shrink)

The work aims at discussing the double character of works of art in Adorno’s writings. It will be examined the arguments defended by Adorno about the social character of art, especially in the case of music, in which can be seen how the development of the material expresses the contradictions of society. By means of a dialectical critique Adorno discuss the way in which works of art respond to the social problems and become possibilities of resistance to reification. It will (...) be also analyzed the negative influence of culture industry on works of art. Therefore, the paper reflects about the concept of autonomous art as the hermetic character of works of art that enable them a development according their internal rules, without being submitted to a social function. In this sense, it is necessary that the reception of works of art be determined not by the aesthetic pleasure, but by the possibility of disclosing their truth content. The dialectic relation between art and society makes works of art critical and resistant to reification. (shrink)

This article analyses the evolution of penalties from Michel Foucault’s philosophy, verifying the departure of torture and giving rise to a disciplinary model. The aim is to find out the forms of power that society has exerted over the 19th century and the transition to ‘biopower’, where the purpose is to control all of society. In Brazil, the shift towards a punitive model becomes evident with the redemocratization that followed the National Constitution of 1988, which recognized the dignity of the (...) human person as the right to be upheld. In this context, the following question arises: Does the common Brazilian penitentiary system serve its corrective purpose? Is there a more effective way to deal with convicts, in terms of reducing recidivism rates? Mario Ottoboni founded the Association for the Protection and Assistance of Convicts (APAC). The present study proposes a study by APAC to answer these questions. APAC is an innovative institution that aims to fulfill the resocializing function of a sentence. This is a possible path for social reintegration. This study employed a deductive approach and was conducted using bibliographical research. (shrink)

The article examines four models of data governance emerging in the current platform society. While major attention is currently given to the dominant model of corporate platforms collecting and economically exploiting massive amounts of personal data, other actors, such as small businesses, public bodies and civic society, take also part in data governance. The article sheds light on four models emerging from the practices of these actors: data sharing pools, data cooperatives, public data trusts and personal data sovereignty. We propose (...) a social science-informed conceptualisation of data governance. Drawing from the notion of data infrastructure we identify the models as a function of the stakeholders’ roles, their interrelationships, articulations of value, and governance principles. Addressing the politics of data, we considered the actors’ competitive struggles for governing data. This conceptualisation brings to the forefront the power relations and multifaceted economic and social interactions within data governance models emerging in an environment mainly dominated by corporate actors. These models highlight that civic society and public bodies are key actors for democratising data governance and redistributing value produced through data. Through the discussion of the models, their underpinning principles and limitations, the article wishes to inform future investigations of socio-technical imaginaries for the governance of data, particularly now that the policy debate around data governance is very active in Europe. I. In analytic philosophy, so-called 'univocalism' is the prevailing interpretation of the meaning of terms such as 'being' or 'existence', i.e. the thesis that these terms have only one meaning (see Russell, White, Quine, van Inwagen). But some analytical philosophers, inspired by Aristotle, maintain that 'being' has many senses (Austin, Ryle). II. Aristotle develops an argument in favour of this last thesis, observing that 'being' and 'one' cannot be a single genus, because they are predicated of their differences (Metaph. B (...) 3). III. But 'being' for Aristotle has also a unity, i.e. 'focal meaning', which coincides with substance (Metaph. Γ 2), and substance has not only an ontological priority, but also a logical priority, in respect to the other beings, as was shown by G. E. L. Owen. IV. This 'focal meaning' cannot be identified with primary substance, i.e. with the unmovable mover, as some interpreters pretend, because this latter has only an ontological, not a logical, priority in respect to the world. V. The impossibility of this interpretation results from Aristotle's rejection of an essence and a substance of being (Metaph. Internet of Things, Internet of Everything and Internet of People are concepts suggesting that objects, devices, and people will be increasingly interconnected through digital infrastructure that will generate a growing gathering of data. Parallel to this development is the celebration of the smart city and sharing city as urban policy visions that by relying heavily on new technologies bear the promise of efficient and thriving cities. Law and policy scholarship have either focused on questions related to privacy, discrimination, security, or (...) issues related to the production and use of big data, digital public services. Little or no attention has been paid to the disruptive impact of technological development on urban governance and city inhabitants’ rights of equal access, participation, management and even ownership, in order to understand whether and how technology can also enhance the protection of human rights and social justice in the city. This Article proposes complementing the technological and digital infrastructure with a legal and governance infrastructure, the Internet of Humans, by construing and injecting in the policy framework of the city the principle of Tech Justice. Building on a literature review and from an analysis of selected case studies, this Article stresses the dichotomy existing between the market-based and the society-based applications of technology, the first likely to increase the digital divide and the challenges to human rights in the city, the latter bearing the promise to promote equal access to technology in the city. The main argument advanced by this Article is that the principle of Tech Justice if embedded as an empirical dimension of smart city and sharing city policies can steer their developments in the direction of a more just and democratic city. The so-called parahypotaxis is a syntactical phenomenon, common in late Latin but attested sporadically already in classical Latin, consisting in the pleonastic use of a copulative conjunction (et or atque) at the beginning of the principal clause after a subordinate, especially temporal clause. In this paper I propose to recognize a case of parahypotaxis in a difficult passage of Lucretius’ De rerum natura (6, 577-584), differently explained by former interpreters. As an appendix, I discuss a passage of Vergil’s Aeneid (9, (...) 47-53), where the same phenomenon can be identified. (shrink)

En el presente trabajo abordamos la relación entre perspectiva de género y educación superior en la currícula de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario, República Argentina. Para esto, analizamos los registros y relevamientos documentados en la última década existentes en dicha Facultad sobre la temática y el espacio curricular de las Prácticas Profesionales Supervisadas área C. Analizamos los obstáculos que dificultan el acceso del alumnado a los contenidos de estudios de género, imprescindibles para realizar una práctica (...) en el campo de salud mental acorde a las demandas de la época y en consonancia con los avances del país en materia legislativa. Citizen-gathered evidence (CGE) gathered by individuals organized in collectives have the potential to demonstrate environmental and social wrongdoings in court. We identify (collective) agency and resistance in how individuals and communities that have been exposed to socio-environmental stressors turn to gather CGE. We explore the modes through which people gather scientific data, produce CGE, alert authorities to environmental harm, and the methods by which data can be shared with communities, beginning with the case studies of civic environmental monitoring addressing coal (...) ash pollution in North Carolina. We analyze the case studies through a theoretical lens built on (1) the theory of civic monitoring “as resistance;” (2) the argument that CGE can embody “collective intelligence;” and (3) the concept of “crowd science” through a decentralized yet coordinated network. In the first part of the article, we introduce the case studies. Then, we illustrate our theoretical frame as applied to the analysis of the cases. We discuss the cases and in particular the CGE at issue through the prism of the frame. We demonstrate how CGE can be valuable not only for civil society and civic organizations, but also for competent authorities. In our conclusion, we identify critical junctures of our case studies, such as that of “knowledge crowdsourcing” to demand justice that triggers the government to take action and the existence of a “coordinated” yet decentralized crowd to capture the full extension of the problem. Lastly, we outline the limitations of our study, a future research agenda, and still open questions. (shrink)
