The Configurations of Informal Institutions to Promote Men’s and Women’s Entrepreneurial Activities.Danish Junaid, Amit Yadav, Farman Afzal, Imran Ahmed Shah, Bharanidharan Shanmugam, Mirjam Jonkman, Sami Azam & Friso De Boer - 2020 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
While previous studies have examined the impact of informal institutions to determine entrepreneurial activities, this paper explores the different configurational paths of informal institutions to promote men’s and women’s entrepreneurial activities across factor-driven and efficiency-driven economies. We collected data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor for 56 countries for the years 2008-2013 and employed fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis to conduct the empirical analysis. The results confirm that a single antecedent condition is unable to produce an outcome while combination of different conditions (...)

Factors Affecting Staff Turnover of Young Academics: Job Embeddedness and Creative Work Performance in Higher Academic Institutions.Imran Ahmed Shah, Amit Yadav, Farman Afzal, Syed Maqsood Zia Ahmed Shah, Danish Junaid, Sami Azam, Mirjam Jonkman, Friso De Boer, Ronju Ahammad & Bharanidharan Shanmugam - 2020 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
Young academics have been facing a problem of high turnover rate due to missing links between the institutions’ policies and the performance. This study explores the effect of job embeddedness and community embeddedness on creative work performance and intentions to leave of young teaching staff in academic institutions in Pakistan. In this study, 300 qualified young academics from public and private universities were selected as subjects and asked to complete a questionnaire. Data were collected via mail-survey. A variance-based structural equation (...)

Finite-Time Stability Analysis of Switched Genetic Regulatory Networks with Time-Varying Delays via Wirtinger’s Integral Inequality.Shanmugam Saravanan, M. Syed Ali, Grienggrai Rajchakit, Bussakorn Hammachukiattikul, Bandana Priya & Ganesh Kumar Thakur - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-21.
The problem of finite-time stability of switched genetic regulatory networks with time-varying delays via Wirtinger’s integral inequality is addressed in this study. A novel Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional is proposed to capture the dynamical characteristic of GRNs. Using Wirtinger’s integral inequality, reciprocally convex combination technique and the average dwell time method conditions in the form of linear matrix inequalities are established for finite-time stability of switched GRNs. The applicability of the developed finite-time stability conditions is validated by numerical results.

Ubiquitin Signaling Regulates RNA Biogenesis, Processing, and Metabolism.Pankaj Thapa, Nilesh Shanmugam & Wojciech Pokrzywa - 2020 - Bioessays 42 (1):1900171.
The fate of eukaryotic proteins, from their synthesis to destruction, is supervised by the ubiquitin–proteasome system (UPS). The UPS is the primary pathway responsible for selective proteolysis of intracellular proteins, which is guided by covalent attachment of ubiquitin to target proteins by E1 (activating), E2 (conjugating), and E3 (ligating) enzymes in a process known as ubiquitylation. The UPS can also regulate protein synthesis by influencing multiple steps of RNA (ribonucleic acid) metabolism. Here, recent publications concerning the interplay between the UPS (...)

Surveying the Indian research ethics committee response to the COVID‐19 pandemic.Yashashri C. Shetty, Sudha Ramalingam, Paresh Koli, Karthikeyan Shanmugam & Rajmohan Seetharaman - forthcoming - Developing World Bioethics.
Research ethics committees (RECs) have played a crucial role in expediting the review of research protocols amidst the COVID‐19 pandemic. To improve their performance and identify areas of enhancement, a multicentric study was conducted in India by the Forum for Ethical Review Committees in the Asian and Western Pacific Region (FERCAP). The study aimed to evaluate the preparedness of Indian RECs during the COVID‐19 outbreak while conducting protocol reviews and comprehend the challenges they encountered. After obtaining ethics committee approval, a (...)
