Abstract

Derrida got nearer and nearer to the thought of otherness by deconstructing the metaphysical supremacy of identity, using a new logic: the logic of the double bind to opposition which is accepted when it’s subjected by the supremacy of the identity, but which is refused when it’s opposed to this supremacy. By considering this opposition in its irreducibility Derrida accepted the attention for the other typical of Levinas’ philosophy; but, in this way, the thought of otherness comes to be linked with violence
