On Metaphysical Implications of Metaethics - Against Metaethical Quietism -

Abstract

이 글은 메타윤리학의 형이상학적 함축, 즉 규범이 과연 존재하는지, 존재한다면 어떤 상태로 존재하며 자연적 속성과 어떤 관계에 있는지에 관한 논의의 의의를 부정하는 정적주의를 비판한다. 논문은 최선의 규범을 선별하는데 있어서 규범에 대한 형이상학은 아무런 역할이 없다는 정적주의의 주장에 대해서 메타윤리학적 차이가 규범적 판단과 이론에서 차이를 낳는 사례를 제시한다. 또한 규범의 “행해야 함”의 차원을 오직 비존재론적으로만 인정하는 정적주의가 메타윤리학이 가진 설명적 과제들에 미흡하게 대응함을 보이고 자연주의 실재론과의 대조를 통해 후자의 설명적 우월성을 제시한다.
