Abstract

The article sheds light on the current situation in Europe following the historic events in 1989, which triggered the issue of the formation of a European identity in the new political circumstances. Concomitantly, the period also gave rise to the question of the role of Europe in the globalization process. Europe has undoubtedly been facing a crisis of values, on the basis of which it would be possible to form a humane vision of social development. How can we respond to this crisis, bearing in mind Europe’s aspiration to develop into a knowledgebased society?
