Abstract

I utilise and develop the wisdom-longevity-books triad for praising Mario Bunge, Argentine thinker and intellectual of universal citizenship. I had the immense privilege of knowing another extraordinary Argentine whose figure becomes even more colossal with the passing of time, Jorge Luis Borges. I also attended and listened to three of his magisterial conferences. I am convinced that Borges and Bunge are the pride of Argentines, as well as being the most lucid minds of the twentieth century. Bunge has published more than 550 papers in different journals of international prestige, in the most varied areas. He has written over 140 books and they have been translated into many languages, in addition to being permanently reprinted. Mario has published without interruption during 80 years of his long and prolific life, whose 100th birthday is celebrated on September 21 of the year 2019.
