Abstract

The "environmental violence", under the aspect of global warming, seems now the first violence to be faced, alongside those of wars. It has crossed with the progressive erosion of the symbolic orders established in the twentieth century. The intersection between these two processes has laid bare the basic mechanisms that were the contingent conditions of the homination that preceded the Neolithic era. The essay tries to show how there is no continuity between global warming and medial warming. The hyper-heating produced by the media, the global media warming, manifests itself as a multi-layer heating process, one enveloped in the other: emotional warming, excitability, sensationalism. The essay, however, tries to show –through the theoretical proposals of Sloterdijk, Grusin, Morton and others –as a cooling symbiotic drive manifests itself in the heart of every body and as such a drive we must begin to reckon, first describing it.
