Abstract
In this article, painting is regarded as aphasia or hysteria. First, we will approach painting, or a "disease", by considering the relationship between language and painting, and then we will see the connection between language and body; the totality of language and perception. And in the end, we will come to realize how and why a"disease"called painting is produced. This "disease" expresses the contradiction which we have within our body. In order for us to lead a normal life, signs must be connected with their customary meanings, whereas painting reveals what is hidden beneath the connections, and we have experiences beyond everyday speech. In this way painting endangers our everyday life. At the same time, however, painting provides the moment to recover the health of our body. When we are confronted with painting, the function of seeing plays the leading role in our body. Our "diseased" body led by the function of seeing acquires its new frame, and then recovers its health. Painting is twofold. It can be a "disease" for itself. And therefore, it's a joy for us to see painting
