Megalith: Eleven journeys in search of stones

Abstract

This title features: ten impressionistic narratives that map emotional, spiritual and historical odysseys into the past, present and future; and imaginative portraits of both ancient stones and modern megalithomaniacs - for whom these bewitching and disturbing objects are dynamic and inspirational things. Contributors explore the deep pull of these stones and of the land in which they are rooted - offering insights into the way in which we might ground and orienteer ourselves anew in a technological world. Travel writing with a difference - this collection is the result of some fascinating fieldwork. The preface is given by renowned author Jan Morris. This work includes 10 full-colour photographs of the megaliths described.
