Abstract

Simone Weil helds Plato, Descartes and Kant, the three greatest philosophers of all times and she reads and interprets their thought unceasingly. The initial intuition of her thought is the teaching of Descartes on the autonomy of the human mind, « applied » to society, especially to labour, via the marxian concept of alienation. Her mature thought is deeply influenced by Kant’s purposiveness without an end, an esthetical category which, reinterpreted over against Platonic themes, becomes a moral doctrine
