Abstract

El artículo hace una aproximación a la realidad social objetiva y al estado de la cuestión de la viudedad en las personas mayores, y su construcción social en la vejez. Se analizan algunas de las limitaciones que acompañan la viudedad en la vejez, así como distintas estrategias de adaptación a esta nueva situación por parte de las personas mayores.This article addresses both the objective social reality and the state of widowhood and widowerhood in the elderly, and its social construction during ageing. Some limitations are analysed which are associated with becoming a widow/widower in the elderly, as well as different strategies for elderly people to adapt to this new situation.
