Abstract
This article provides an overview of various positions in the heterogenous theoretical field termed “posthumanism.” Posthumanism may be understood as both an umbrella category for post-anthropocentric movements in general, from New Materialism to Anthropocene theories, and as a more specialized field that focuses on the prospects of deliberate technological modifications of the human body, often termed “the posthuman.” In the latter, body-centered and cyborgian approach, posthumanism supplements the typical Anthropocene focus on technology’s involuntary destructive effects on the planet’s environments.
