Jokes, mess-ups, and mishandlings: Mistake as a source of everyday conflict among cultures

Abstract

Este texto busca investigar la incidencia del “error” en el origen de la conflictividad cotidiana entre sujetos culturalmente diversos. Para ello se comienza distinguiendo los diferentes tipos de errores, intentando acercase a una conceptualización del mismo. Luego de ello, el texto se desplaza hacia el tema del origen del error adentrándose, en primer lugar, en el tema de la “falla en la información”, abordando el asunto de su origen desde la perspectiva de la percepción, de la existencia de secretos y de la concurrencia de mentiras y engaños. Por otra parte, se analiza la comprensión como fuente de errores. Finalmente, se abordan las consecuencias del error analizando, por una parte, la ira y la venganza y, por otra, la sanción y el castigo. This text aims to investigate the incidence of “mistake” in the origin of everyday conflict between culturally diverse individuals. To achieve that, it starts distinguishing the different kinds of mistakes, in order to approach to a concept of it. Later, the text explores into the origin of mistake, looking into, in the first place, the “fail of information” theme, addressing the subject of its origin from the perception perspective, the existence of secrets, and the attendance of lies and deceits. Besides, comprehension is analyzed as source of mistakes. Finally, it approaches the consequences of mistake, analyzing, on the one hand, wrath and revenge, and, on the other hand, sanction and punishment.
