Abstract

This paper is an introduction to progressive librarianship. Progressive librarianship is contextualized within a broad international movement, with an emphasis on the United States cultural perspective. Concrete examples are given to show how progressive librarianship deals with select intercultural problems in the U.S., such as international relations and public forum. Special attention is given to the role of the Internet in the rise of progressive library discourse.
