Death-and-life Seminar and Its Impact on para-counselors' Attitude toward Life

Abstract

This is the Department of the University's "self-aware counselors and professional development" course in "Life and Death of the General Assembly" to discuss research and analysis experience as material, to understand life and death topics discussed, students attitude to life and life view. In the heart of Pingtung Teachers College sophomore and senior students in secondary group total of twenty eight, after the data through the use of students to sign an agreement, just to pay the content information for encoding, classification, and collaborative research to do with the reliability test . Study found that participating students mainly from the fear of death unknown, sadness, fear not properly lived regret; for the greatest harvest of life and death of the General Assembly is "to grasp the moment, cherish and strive to"; and practice in life, some students have when when viewing their own lives, but also the families of loved ones who do the work. Death gives life meaning is positive: Death is only fair, because there are dead, life was precious and should not be excessively bureaucratic waste! This study was an attempt to understand what students learned after the "death-and-life seminar". The researcher would like to know participant's view on life, their attitude toward death, and effort they would like to put into daily life. Data analysis was based on written assignments. The result showed that: fear of death resulted from unknown, regretfulness, and never-live-fully. The most valuable gain they got was: to seize the day, to cherish, and to take active status working on what they intend to. On the daily practice, some students expressed their effort pouring into life reflection and taking care of family members. Death did give a positive meaning to life, and it is the very and only fair thing in the world
